On arrival at a campsite you will be asked to complete an order form which provides the basis for issuing your camping card. It is important that the form completed correctly and is easy to read. A new camping card costs DKK 90 and is valid for the current calendar year. A completed order form which has been paid for is fully valid as a temporary camping card until you receive the actual camping card. Further information appears on the back of the order form. Remember to take your temporary camping card with you when you move on.

The card is valid for single people, married or cohabiting couples and single parents with children under 18 living at home in the same household and for groups of a minimum of 5 and maximum of 11 people travelling together. The group leader must be over 18 and the card must be accompanied by a list of names.

The Nordic camping card is valid when a year label is attached. If you have a valid card from a previous year, you only need to buy a year label for DKK 90. Your card will then be valid for the rest of the calendar year.

If you only require to stay a single night at a campsite in one of the Nordic countries you can buy a Transit card for DKK 25.

Camping cards are compulsory at approved camsites in Denmark - but why?

The approved campsites in Denmark must comply with the rules of the Danish Camping Board, Campingraadet, and its requirements regarding camping cards.

The camping card, which you hand over to the site manager, ensures that all guests are registered. For this reason, guests who hire cabins, caravans or tents must also have camping cards.

The Danish camping card includes supplementary liability insurance which covers damage or injury to third parties which is not covered by the cardholder's personal liability insurance or where no insurance is held.
